"This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
Who violently sweep your house
Empty of its furniture,
Still, treat each guest honorably
He may be clearing you out
For some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
Meet them at the door laughing,
And invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
Because each has been sent
As a guide from beyond."
-Rumi (as translated by Coleman Barks)

When you're not feeling good and you can't find a way to feel better now, realize that many, so-called bad situations always bring us wonderful strength and more experiences in the end. Observe what is happening right now as an opportunity; try not to judge it either as a blessing or a curse.
And when you do that, you recognize and accept where you are, that is the moment you'll be able to "let go and let God" as they say. You'll finally be able to begin to move up the emotional scale, little by little.
Allow yourself to feel whatever it is you're feeling so you can have more compassion for yourself and just sit with your feelings wherever they are if that's what you need to do!
Love,

Sometimes when doing the LOA work, people will think they are failing if they aren't FEELING GOOD all the time. As we've talked about before, it isn't about trying to be 'fake happy". You are where you are. It doesn't matter if you're at the lowest point of the emotional scale. That's where you are right now. Trying to stuff "good, positive things and thoughts" into your head and trying to feel better by sheer force of will is not going to do it. That's what Abraham-Hicks calls "happy face stickering". What this means is to put a shiny, bright yellow happy-face sticker on top of the gas tank gauge in your car when your car gas tank is empty. If you are running around spiritually empty, with nothing in your gas tank and you ignore it by being "fake happy", you won't be able to begin the journey from where you really are to where you want to be and you're going to eventually run out of gas! You're not going to get anywhere.
So sit right where you are and feel what you're feeling, even if it feels really bad right now. Those are your authentic feelings. The LOA is not about ignoring your feelings, even if they are bad, it's about being aware of where you are on the emotional spectrum, sitting with it if you can't make yourself feel better right now (and not feeling bad about that!), and if you just can't do the work of making yourself feel a little better right this minute, not trying to force it. When you are ready to feel a little better, you'll know, and then you can guide yourself up the scale. If you don't let yourself really feel wherever you are, you can't begin to guide yourself wherever it is you want to go. To use the car analogy again, that's like trying to get into a car and go to your destination without knowing where the heck you're coming from! How will you begin to travel to where you want to go?
When you sit with and let yourself feel the true feelings, that's the way you can finally and honestly Make Peace with Where You Are. When that happens, you will feel relief just because you are accepting your true feelings. Sometimes we aren't allowed to feel our true feelings, we listen to the people around us, their opinions and suggestions of how we "should" feel and it's only when we really accept our own feelings and are ok with being wherever it is we are, whether it is anger, jealousy, frustration, despair, it doesn't matter, that we can begin to move in the right direction again. It's about being ok with wherever you are and making peace with it.
And when you do feel bad, you shouldn't beat yourself up for not doing this perfectly or not being what you think the people and society need you to be. Get everyone else out of the picture. Absolutely forget everyone else right now, and try to let go of your ego a little bit. That's the part of us that we define from the outside things we have, our looks, our job, our "perfect" family, our "net worth", etc. It may seem hard at first, since that is the way most of society defines us, but we don't have to buy into that definition of who-we-are or our importance or worthiness.
